Do you want to learn to fly a media drone? Maybe you have a little bit of camera experience but you don't have the confidence to fly a quadcopter on your own? Maybe you can fly a quadcopter but you're not sure how to capture high quality video and stills from the air? Perhaps you know already fly a drone and capture video but you want to improve your skills, see the latest gear in in action, network with other drone media enthusiasts, just have fun, or all of the above?

The Drone Media Fundamentals one day course is for you!

Our highly skilled instructors have thousands of hours of flight time. They live and breathe drone media production. And they have a passion for sharing their skills and techniques with anyone who is interested in drone media production.

The Drone Media Fundamentals Course is a full day immersion into the craft of drone media production, designed to assist anyone in his or her development of the skills and knowledge necessary to Fly Safely and Fly Focused.

Safety First! We believe in playing by the rules. As such, we have partnered with the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) to ensure that our attendees have clear guidelines to follow during our course. Included in your registration fee is AMA membership for the rest of 2014. That's right, attend our Fundamentals course, and you'll automatically become a member of the AMA. Agenda- Drone Media Fundamentals
One Day Course

9:00am- 9:30am
Registration. Meet and Greet. Schedule Overview.

9:30: 10:00am
Drone Cinematography Opening Demonstration. This is a showcase of a professional drone media rig in action. We'll show how a two-man team operates a DJI S1000 with a  ZenMuse Gimbal and a DSLR camera using a Hi-Def Monitor for FPV (First person view).

10:00am- 11:00am
Ground school, the basics.  Condensed into one of learning basic flight safety concepts, our Ground School teaches the key concepts for safety, controlled flight, and best practices for drone media production. We cut out the extra and cut to the chase so you have the best opportunity to focus on what's important, being safe in in the air and staying focused on your subject.

11:00am- noon
Getting to know your Quadcopter- based on DJI Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision, and Vision+. We will break down the components- the copter, the controller, the software, the Wi-fi extender, and many of the most common add-ons. You'll learn the proper sequence for powering on, setting a home lock, launching safely, RTH (Return to Home), customizing settings, using Atti (attitude) mode, landing options.

noon- 1:00pm
Catered lunch at the airfield. Eat, drink, mingle, network.

The afternoon will be spent learning in 3 unique, small- group breakout sessions. Each student will rotate through the station for a focused learning experience, including hands on flight. Sessions run from 1:00pm-2:00pm, 2:15pm- 3:30pm, and 3:45pm- 5:00pm

Session 1
Hands-on- Fly a Phantom, your copter or ours. Hands-on, small group and one-on-one pilot instruction. Learn to pilot a basic quadcopter. Beginners will learn to master the technique necessary for take-off and landing. Intermediate pilots will have time to discuss, train, and attempt more advanced maneuvers. Spend time behind the controls and take a quadcopter for a spin.

Session 2
Basic Drone Videography rigs and shot techniques. Get an overview of the most common Aerial Videography equipment, including quadcopters (i.e. the DJI Phantom) outfitted with small form cameras (i.e. a GoPro) and all-in-one units like the Vision and Vision+. Participate in evaluating a basic flight plan and experience the way basic shots are achieved.

Session 3
Aerial Videography Monitoring Equipment and Techniques. Learn to utilize FPV field monitors  to capture the best shots with minimal guesswork. Attendees will work together to monitor flights. Each attendee will have a chance to experience Aerial Videography through the eyes of the drone by viewing FPV monitors and seeing shots in action.

Closing remarks, group aerial shot, distribute Certificates of Completion

5:15pm - 7:00pm
Official training end at 5:15pm, however, you are invited to stick around for Q&A and refreshments on us. Fly your drones at the airfield or watch others fly.
